Heart Health in the Workplace

A Heart Health in the Workplace Seminar was held at Curtis Memorial Hospital on September 10, 1998. This seminar is one of several that has been held in the province as part of an initiative of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Care Association and the \ Newfoundland and Labrador Heart Health Program to encourage heart health activities for employees. The twenty people who attended this workshop included employees of Grenfell Regional Health Services and coalition members. The workshop, which was facilitated by Eva Laing, NLHHP Manager, provided people with information to assist them in designing heart health activities for their workplaces. Participants left the workshop with plans to form A committee so ideas generated can be put in place.

Heart Health for Youth in Flower's Cove

Northern Heart Health Coalition sponsored a student for eight weeks during July and August to promote active living with youth in the Flower's Cove area. Activities that were organized included softball, basketball and tennis. Many of the youth in the area participated and enjoyed a heart healthy summer.
